WATCH: Hillary Clinton calls Trump’s decision to leave northeast Syria a ‘betrayal’ of Kurds
Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton called President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northeast Syria a “betrayal” of Kurdish fighters who helped the U.S. take on ISIS. “They deserve better" Clinton said of the Kurdish partners in northeast Syria. Clinton made the comments during an interview with PBS NewsHour anchor and managing editor Judy Woodruff. Trump’s former political rival warned that by not supporting the Kurds, ISIS and its sympathizers would be “largely left to their own devices. “There will be a resurgence of militancy within Syria because of this,” Clinton said.
